THIS IS MY NEXT-TO-LAST ENTRY ABOUT PORN, I PROMISE
I spent the majority of today drinking coffee watching movies and wandering around Prospect Park with V. and feeling chilly but pleased to be out in the sun. Afterwards I went to dinner with S. and ate a gigantic, well-prepared bowl of seafood. It was all very domestic and cuddly and therefore fun to do but incredibly boring to write about, so I won't. I will recommend Mirror to anyone who enjoys a good semi-rambling and plotless but incredibly beautiful Russian movie, though.
Instead, I'm going to write about the dreams I've been having lately. As I've mentioned, I've been doing a lot of academic work with Victorian pornography lately, and I suppose it was inevitable that eventually this would bleed over into my subconscious. Well, ladies and gentlemen, it's happened. My dreams last night were simultaneously the most obscene and the most boring things that have happened to me in a while. If you've ever read anything in the genre, you know that Victorian porn is very interested in things like exhibitionism and incest and three-to-fivesomes and gigantic dildos* so everyone can penetrate and be penetrated at the same time. So these were my dreams (mercifully, incest-free). Except that since I find this type of porn historically interesting, but not particularly erotic, my dream-approach to this environment was primarily that of the Detached Academic. These were not sex dreams; they were research dreams.
I don't know what I want to read next, but it damn sure won't have any sex in it.
